Roblox
Almost everything on Roblox is made by other players, so the content changes constantly and some of it may not suit younger children. Roblox's own games have mild cartoon violence and the odd jump scare.
You can buy: Robux, including some items you buy without knowing exactly what you'll get.

What changed in June 2026
PEGI now rates games on how they make money and keep kids playing, not just on violence and language. For games submitted from June 2026:
- Loot boxes and other paid random items: PEGI 16 by default, sometimes 18.
- Time-limited or limited-stock offers: PEGI 12.
- Rewards for coming back (like daily quests): PEGI 7. If you lose out by not coming back: PEGI 12.
- NFTs or blockchain features: PEGI 18.
- Chat with no way to block or report: PEGI 18.
Older games keep their old ratings, so a game rated before June 2026 can have loot boxes and still say 3 or 7 on the box. Games marked "New rules" above were rated under the new criteria.
The rating isn't everything
PEGI rates what's in the game, not who your child might meet online or what they might spend. Chat and spending are set in the console and the game: build your list with our parental controls checklist.
Questions parents ask
Are PEGI ratings the law in the UK?
Partly. PEGI 12, 16 and 18 are legally enforceable: shops can't sell or hire those games to anyone under that age. That only applies to the retailer. It doesn't stop an adult buying the game for a child, and PEGI 3 and 7 are guidance.
Why is EA Sports FC 27 rated 16?
Loot boxes. Since June 2026, PEGI gives games with paid random items, like Ultimate Team card packs, a PEGI 16 by default. FC 25 was rated 3.
What does Parental Guidance mean on Roblox and Fortnite?
Most of what's in them is made by other players, so PEGI can't rate it all. It gives the platform a 'Parental Guidance Recommended' label instead. Fortnite's own Battle Royale mode is rated 12, and every Fortnite island now carries its own rating.
What age is GTA 6?
PEGI 18, for strong graphic violence, strong sexual themes and illegal drugs. Rockstar says it comes out on 19 November 2026.
