Quick answer
Italian brainrot is a 2025 meme: AI-made creatures with fake Italian names, like a shark in trainers (Tralalero Tralala) or a log with a bat (Tung Tung Tung Sahur), voiced in nonsense Italian. It's mostly harmless silliness, but some of the original audio is blasphemous or mentions bombing children, and the Roblox game Steal a Brainrot pushes real-money purchases.
What is Italian brainrot?
AI-made pictures of daft hybrid creatures, each with an Italian-sounding name, read out by a computer voice doing a nonsense rhyme in Italian. It took off on TikTok in early 2025 and spread fast among primary-age kids. There's nothing to understand. That's the point.
The one usually credited as first is Tralalero Tralala, a three-legged shark in Nike trainers. Others your kid might be shouting:
- Tung Tung Tung Sahur: a wooden log holding a bat. It comes from Indonesia, not Italy.
- Bombardiro Crocodilo: a crocodile's head on a wartime bomber plane.
- Ballerina Cappuccina: a ballerina with a cappuccino cup for a head.
- Chimpanzini Bananini: a chimp inside a banana.
Is it OK for kids?
The pictures are silly rather than scary. The catch is the original audio. The Italian voiceover on Tralalero Tralala includes blasphemy against God, and the original Bombardiro Crocodilo narration talks about bombing children in Gaza and Palestine. Kids who don't speak Italian won't know what they're chanting.
Games, toys and stickers don't carry that audio. If they're watching the original clips on TikTok or YouTube, it's worth a look at what's actually playing.
What is Steal a Brainrot?
A Roblox game, released on 16 May 2025, where you buy brainrot characters that earn in-game money, then steal other players' characters from their bases. In October 2025 it hit around 25 million players at the same time, a Roblox record.
Two things to know. The stealing upsets kids: TikTok and YouTube are full of clips of children crying after theirs got stolen. And critics say the best items are only available for real money, through Robux. If your kid plays it, set a spending limit first.
Where else will I see it?
Everywhere it can be sold. Panini brought out a sticker album in 2025, Fortnite added Tung Tung Tung Sahur and Ballerina Cappuccina outfits in April 2026, and there are toys and plushes. If one looks cheap and unbranded, check it against the recall list.
Is it just a phase?
It's already past its peak. By early 2026, Steal a Brainrot was down about 99% from its record, to around 215,000 players at once. That's still a big game by Roblox standards, so the names will be shouted for a while yet.
